LA Designers To Participate In The Design Box Challenge At The LA Mart During Design Week

February 21, 2018, Los Angeles, CA – Eight Los Angeles Designers will be showcasing their talents as they take a blank 10 x 10 space, and transform their space into a one-of-kind vignette in only 24 hours. The designers’ creations will be on display at the LA Mart during Design Week presented by Dacor, in conjunction with ASID LA and NKBA from March 26th through March 30th, with the Reveal party being held on March 28th.

“This Spring event continues to attract and support the Los Angeles design community and we are especially excited to host this first LAMDC/ASID Design Box Challenge,” said Frank Joens SVP, General Manger, LA Mart Design Center.  “Design Box Challenge is the sort of interesting and creative endeavor that LAMDC likes to bring to its designer base and we are so pleased to continue in this practice for our Designer Week.”

This inaugural event at the LA Mart brings together a multitude of creative minds who will not only demonstrate their unique take on Downtown Living, but will also be challenged to incorporate four unknown elements into the space. Prior to the start of the 24-hour challenge, designers will be provided a box with four unknown elements. Each designer, will receive the same four elements, and must incorporate them into their space. How successfully they integrate these mystery pieces will be decided by a panel of judges.

Notable industry designers such as Christopher Grubb, Mark Cutler, and Laurie Haefele are slated to serve as judges for this event. In addition to the judging panel, attendees will also be able to cast their vote for the design they prefer. Ultimately, two winners will be chosen, a People’s Choice as well the best concept as chosen by the judging panel.
