TYPE 1 DIABETES (T1D) at a glance
T1D is a chronic auto-immune* condition where the body produces little or no insulin.
T1D can be diagnosed at any age but is one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood. If undiagnosed, it can cause abnormally high blood glucose levels which may lead to coma and even death.
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is most commonly seen in older adults and high blood sugar levels occur due to a combination of insulin de ciency and resistance.
